News from Patrick Flynn

Go Gretchen!

If you’ll indulge me a bit, I’d like to divert away from Assembly business for a moment and report an exciting development in the race for the Anchorage School Board; my good friend Gretchen Guess filed her letter of intent this week.  We haven’t talked about it but I’m guessing she’ll seek Seat D, currently held by School Board President John Steiner, who is serving his third term and cannot run again.

For those of you who don’t know Gretchen from her service in the Alaska State House and State Senate, from her more recent experience as Regional Director of Business Planning & Development at Providence Health & Services or from some other aspect of her long history in our community, let me assure you that she’d be a great addition to the School Board.  She’s extraordinarily smart, works hard and prepares as diligently as (and perhaps more so than) any public servant you’ll ever meet.

So please join me in welcoming Gretchen to the maelstrom of local politics and wish her the best of luck!

Regards,

Patrick

  2. That’s really very interesting, Mr. Flynn. I don’t know Gretchen Guess personally, but I’d probably suggest a platform something like this:

    Low taxes
    Better teachers
    Protecting children
    Advanced curriculum

I’d like to see her platform to get some idea of where she stands on the issues. She’s certainly a formidable candidate.

  3. Yippie! Gretchen is a product of two wonderful public servants – her parents – Gene and Carolyn. She has my vote.

  4. I am commenting to make you know what a remarkable discovery our child went through reading through your site. She discovered several pieces, which included what it’s like to possess an excellent teaching heart to have other individuals smoothly completely grasp specified multifaceted topics. You really exceeded her desires. Thanks for delivering these powerful, trusted, edifying not to mention easy tips about the topic to Tanya.
