State election matters

Like many other Alaskans, I awoke this morning to a headline about who met the filing deadline for seeking a seat in the Alaska state legislature.  An item that did not, apparently, earn mention in local coverage was the entrance of two of my former railroad colleagues into the fray.

Both are challenging well-entrenched incumbents and, to the best of my knowledge, neither has the depth of public service background that lends itself to success in their endeavors.  Nevertheless, seeking public office is always interesting and affords one the opportunity to learn a lot about themselves and their community.

Best of luck to both, even if some of our fellow former colleagues may root against you!
